2010 Introductions & Seedlings

YELLACOPTER

YELLACOPTER (Bob Wilson 2010)(Loch Ness Monster x Red Zeppelin) Dip 10” SEv, Midseason, fragrant.  (Both of these introductions, Y and TCE are 2004 seedlings, left to grow and show how they perform as mature clumps in a zone 5 garden.)  YELLACOPTER reminds me of rotating blades, thus the name.  She is an unusual form cascade spider (4.3:1) of a light yellow with a deeper throat and when she is blooming the entire clump is alive with whirling blades that will hog all attention in a garden bed.  An individual flower on a mature crown will have more than a 10” wingspan and will present itself wide open on 52” scapes; 3-way branching with 26 buds.  I’ve had very little luck with fertility but I think it’s there. $15/2 fans

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING (Bob Wilson 2010)(Concord Nelson x Black Ice) Dip 7" Sev, Midseason. This is another cascade unusual form out of my hybridizing efforts. What "changed everything" was the lack of a green throat. She is what I would call a raspberry-magenta and her throat is a hot orange, an unusual yet striking color combination. No trouble with hot Iowa sun fading things here. The throat will come alive when the sunshine hits it correctly and it will look as if it is on fire. A pale, subtle midrib runs the length of the petals with just a hint of a line on the sepals. Her scapes average 44" on mature crowns. Average bud count is 16 with 3-way branching. Fertility is persnickety but does go both ways. No longer available.
